Every portfolio platform claims to be the best one. Rather than ranking names, judge them on the handful of things that decide whether your work gets seen and whether an inquiry ever arrives.
Six questions worth asking
Run any platform you are considering — including Gallerya — through this list before you upload a single file.
- How large are images shown, and does anything sit on top of them?
- How fast does a portfolio page load on a phone, on mobile data?
- Can search engines reach your work, or does it sit behind a login or an endless scroll?
- Does each photograph and each series get its own shareable page?
- What does it cost to publish a serious edit, and what happens when the archive grows?
- Can someone contact you from the portfolio without leaving it?
Presentation beats features
A portfolio's job is to make somebody stop on a single photograph. Platforms that layer likes, captions and badges over the grid work against that. Gallerya's portfolio grid shows photographs only; the title, location, camera and lens appear when a viewer opens an image.
